New Commercial Packaged Heat Pumps with X-Vane™ Fan Technology Delivering the Future of Innovation Today:
The Industry's First Beltless Direct-Drive Vane Axial Fan
for Commercial Packaged Heat Pumps

Innovative X-Vane™ Fan Technology in a Packaged Heat Pump RTU
Airquest® engineers have adapted their patented X-Vane™ Fan Technology for use in commercial packaged heat pump rooftop units (RTUs). The X-Vane fan is the industry's first beltless direct-drive vane axial fan for RTUs. It's unlike traditional commercial belt-driven fan systems.
Positioned horizontally within the rooftop cabinet, the X-Vane fan utilizes an ECM motor and a vane axial fan for improved performance and energy efficiency. New technology, reduced maintenance and set-up costs, and quiet operation mean Airquest is delivering the future of innovation today.
Here are a few of the benefits of this innovative X-Vane Fan Technology:
- Installed in 3 to 6 Ton Airquest Commercial Packaged Heat Pump Units: X-Vane fans are installed in RHW (3-5 ton) and RHV (3-6 ton) packaged heat pump units. Please see the model charts below for additional details.
- Increased Efficiency: New 6 ton RHV Packaged Heat Pumps with X-Vane Fan Technology achieve 15.0 IEER, so they already comply with 2023 DOE Energy Standards for IEER. The 3 to 5 ton RHV units now achieve 14 SEER, and the 3 to 5 ton RHW models achieve 16 SEER.
- Advanced Technology:
- 75 Percent Fewer Moving Parts: Unlike most rooftop units on the market, Airquest packaged heat pumps with X-Vane Fan Technology utilize an advanced fan design with 75 percent fewer moving parts. Not only does the fan sit horizontally, but there are no pulleys, no belt, no motor base, no blower shaft and no blower bearings. Instead, patented X-Vane Fan Technology utilizes an efficient, direct-drive ECM motor and a vane axial fan.
- Uses Up to 40 Percent Less Energy: Airquest RHW and RHV Package Heat Pumps with X-Vane Technology use up to 40 percent less energy than previous belt-driven models, making them super-efficient.
- Quiet Operation with Slow Speed Ramp Up: With a beltless direct-drive ECM motor and vane axial fan, these packaged heat pumps ramp up to speed slowly and quietly.
- Reduced Refrigerant Charge: A 5/16-inch condenser coil helps to reduce refrigerant charge in these new Airquest Packaged Heat Pumps with X-Vane Fan Technology.
- High Static Capability: These new units are equipped with high static capability which helps to extend equipment life and assists the building HVAC system run at optimal levels.
- Easier Installation and Less Maintenance: The control board in these units has been upgraded to include intuitive indoor fan setup and adjustment, making installation easy. These models also have fewer moving parts, which typically means faster installation and less routine maintenance.
- Same Rooftop Unit Footprint as Previous Models: The beauty of the X-Vane Fan is that it fits into the same cabinet size as previous models. It was designed to fit on roof curbs that were installed as far back as 1989, which makes replacement easy and eliminates the need for curb adapters or changes to utility connections.
